We got the tactics right says Mick as he pays tribute to goal hero Chappers

Mick McCarthy hailed the win at Watford as huge as Blues returned to the Play-Off places.

Richard Chaplow scored the only goal of the game in added on time after Town had kept the free-scoring Hornets at bay for 90 minutes.

“With seven games to go, that is a huge result for us and takes us back into the top six I think so it’s been a great afternoon,” said the Town boss.

“It was a very good tactical performance against a team who try and play through you.

“We had to change a couple of things during the game but we restricted them to a couple of chances.

“It was a great finish by Chappers. He had a lot of time to think about it and maybe he went back to that chance he had against Brentford. He was devastated to miss that one so it was great to see him put the ball in the net.

“All the substitutes contributed today and I thought Woody [Chris Wood] and Varns [Luke Varney] were great for us as well.

“I was going to enjoy the international break when it was 0-0, I’m going to enjoy it even more now we’ve won!”
