LUKE TO DO HIS REHAB AT TOWN

14 May 2015

Varns to get fit with Blues with a view to joining Town

Mick McCarthy has said that Town will look after Luke Varney during his recovery from his achilles injury with a view to signing the striker when he is fit.

The Blackburn loanee sustained a ruptured achilles during the first-half of the Play-Off semi-final first-leg against Norwich last weekend and is expected to be out for six months.

His contract is up at Blackburn this summer but Mick has said that his future could be at Portman Road once he is fit.

“It’s a big disappointment for us to be without Luke but we will look after him,” said the Town boss.

“I have spoken to Marcus [Evans, Town owner] and he is happy for Luke to do his rehabilitation with us.

“We will get him fit with a view to signing him when he is.”
