Striker wants to cap off Town loan with promotion via the Play-Offs and isn't ruling out a permanent return to Portman Road

Luke Varney admits he wants another crack at the Premier League- and wants to get there with Town.

The Blackburn loanee, who played in the top flight with Blackpool, is available again for the Play-Off semi-final against Norwich at Portman Road this weekend after missing the game at Ewood Park against his parent-club.

Now Luke is hoping to be involved against the Canaries and has told the Club website that he’s a fan of the Play-Offs and can’t wait to get a taste.

“I love the Play-Offs, they keep the season alive for teams,” Luke told Ipswich Player.

“I witnessed the benefits they can have when I was at Blackpool, playing for them in the Premier League after they had won the Play-Offs and I’m desperate for another crack.

“I think Norwich will have to be considered favourites with the squad they have but we’ve done well all season and we will be going into the game with the same approach we always do.

“It’s going to be a great a occasion and we’re going to give it our all.”

It may prove to be Luke’s final Town outing at Portman Road, if selected, with his loan up at the end of the Play-Off campaign but the striker isn’t ruling out a permanent return next season.

“I feel part of it here and that’s testament to the lads and the staff,” added Luke.

“It only took a few days to really feel part of the furniture here and my aim was to always do as much as I could in the short time I was here, to hopefully get offered something.

“I’m out of contract at Blackburn and I’d love to get something here sorted but it’s not the time to be thinking of my future at the minute.

“Right now it’s all about the Club and the fans and making sure we give it our all in the Play-Offs and, hopefully, get back up to the Premier League.

“That would be the icing on the cake for us.”
