Gerken delighted with not only the result but the manner of the victory as Town defeat Bolton at Portman Road

Town’s Player of the Month for October, Dean Gerken, has praised a very Ipswich Town like performance in wake of a first victory since September.

The stopper kept a second successive clean sheet as the Blues brushed Bolton aside 2-0 at Portman Road, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Brett Pitman on target.

“Tonight wasn’t just a win but it was a real ‘Ipswich Town’ performance,” he told Ipswich Player HD post-match.

“I thought we were outstanding to be honest and it could have been more, but getting the clean sheet and getting back to winning ways was the most important thing.

“When you’ve got the squad of players we have, and the belief we have in it, we always knew we would come out of the bad run, and it was just a matter of when.

“To get a clean sheet for a goalkeeper is always important, and we’ve had a couple recently, but it doesn’t quite feel as good when you don’t get the win so I think we were back to playing the way we want to tonight.”
