Christophe says Championship getting tougher every season - but could there be a lucky omen for Blues?

Christophe Berra says this season’s Championship is even more competitive than last year.

Blues made it five games unbeaten with a 2-2 draw against the Scotland international’s former club, Wolves, at the weekend and are now within three points of the Play-Offs.

Such is the competitiveness of the division though, that only four points separate sixth placed Birmingham with Brentford in 11th. At the top, there are only two points between leaders Hull and fifth placed Burnley.

“I think the Championship is getting harder every year,” Christophe told the Club website.

“Clubs have improved from last season and then you look at the strength of teams like Hull and Burnley who have come down from the Premier League, it adds to the competition.

“They have kept a lot of their players from last year. I think that is why Norwich adjusted well last season. They had the right balance of players. They had a number of British players who had played in the Championship before.”

Looking for lucky omens? At this stage after 17 games last term, Town were in the Play-Off places. Five of the then top six made it to the end of season shoot-out. The only exception was Derby, who made way for eventual winners Norwich. The Canaries were 10th at the time. Check out where Blues are!
