DUO ARE THE ONLY CONCERNS

Town confident Ainsley will make Millers trip but have worries over Didz

Mick McCarthy is hopeful that Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be fit for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham but there are injury concerns over David McGoldrick.

Ainsley was forced off before half-time in the win over Bolton on Tuesday with a foot injury but is making good progress.

“We were hoping it was a bruised metatarsal and not cracked and that has proved to be the case,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“He came in for treatment yesterday and our physio, Matt Byard, has said it’s improving incredibly after being iced.

“He doesn’t think it will be a problem so hopefully Ainsley will be okay for Saturday.

“Didz has had a niggle in his groin during training this morning though and he’s having treatment.

“It has been bothering him a little bit recently and I had to be aware of that, with Didz having played against Forest and Cardiff, when I looked at who played against Bolton.

“Pits [Brett Pitman] deserved to play in that game anyway but it’s something we have to be conscious of with Didz. We will see how he is tomorrow.”
