Boss happy to see midfielder gain first-team action with Rotherham but insists he's part of the long-term future with Town
Mick McCarthy hopes that Luke Hyam’s loan spell with Rotherham will prepare him for first-team football with Town when he returns in the New Year.
Luke is yet to feature for the Blues this season but the gaffer hopes that he can hit the ground running with a loan spell away from the Club- and he could even return to Suffolk sooner than expected.
“The loan deal says it lasts until January 23rd, and it is, but we have a 24 hour recall after 28 days,” Mick told Ipswich Player HD
“The 28 days takes him to Christmas Eve so if we need him for Boxing Day against QPR then he’ll be back. Hopefully he would have had four or five games and he will be flying.
“All our loan players need to play first-team games. The 21’s are okay but I think when you go to a club, there’s two, three, four or forty thousand people watching. There’s a demand on them to play well, to win games and get points so it’s important they learn that.”
