U21 REPORT: QPR 1 TOWN 1

Hyam features for The Blues after long-term injury lay-off but Development Squad are held by The R's at Loftus Road

Report by Dan Botten

FT: QPR U21 1-1 Ipswich U21

QPR: Polter (pen) 82
Ipswich: Alabi 75

In an entertaining game, Town U21s picked up a welcome away point thanks to a neat finish from powerful striker James Alabi after 75 minutes.

Substitute Conor McKendry played a pinpoint pass through the West Londoners rearguard and Alabi finished well with Town's first effort on goal.

QPR's big German striker Sebastian Polter squandered two presentable chances for the hosts, whilst Darnell Furlong smashed into the sidenetting. Town, growing in confidence throughout, fought hard but conceded when Myles Kenlock pushed Komodikis in the area and Poulter equalised from the spot with eight minutes remaining.

In a frenetic finish, Town shotstopper Jonathan Henly saved well from QPR's Axel Prohouly, before Furlong rattled the bar. Adam McDonnell had a great chance to win it for Mark Kennedy's side in injury time when he flashed a shot just wide before Prohouly's headed finish for QPR was disallowed for offside.

Town: Henley, Emmanuel, Kenlock, McDonnell, Fowler, Robinson, Connolly (McHendry), Hyam (Smith), Alabi, Ford (Morris), Hammond
Subs not used: Marsden, Blanchfield
