Coming soon to Portman Road, an evening with Town's all-time leading scorer hosted by Simon Milton
Town are delighted to confirm that the Club will be staging another popular “An Evening With...” event here at Portman Road on Friday 20th November 2015.
On this occasion, we shall be welcoming striking legend Ray Crawford to join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening.
The striker joined Town in 1958 and played a vital part in helping the Club win back-to-back titles in the 1960/61 and 1961/62 seasons. He was a prolific striker for the Blues- scoring 40 goals in one season- with him remaining as Town’s top goal-scorer of all-time with 218 goals in 354 appearances. Ray became the first ever footballer to score a hat trick in the Football League, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the European Cup.
He is particularly well remembered for his striking partnership with fellow Town legend, Ted Phillips – between them they scored 70 goals in the 1960/61 season. Ray was also the first Ipswich Town player to be capped for England.
The evening will comprise of an in-depth interview with Ray, hosted by Simon Milton and our award-winning Portman Pie will be served.
There will be the opportunity of questions from the audience, plus, with the chance to upgrade to our VIP package, you will also receive a signed souvenir picture of Ray and the chance for your own photo opportunity with the legend himself.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for this memorable event.
