Midfielder rewarded with contract until 2018

Cole Skuse has signed a new contract that will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2018 at least.

The midfielder completed the paperwork this morning in a deal that includes an option of another 12 months on top.

Cole has been a mainstay in Mick McCarthy’s side since joining the Club as a free agent in 2013.

He would have been out of contract in the summer, although Town had the option to extend that by another year.

“Obviously I’m thrilled to have signed a new contract,” Cole told the Club website.

“I knew my contract was up at the end of this season but the gaffer and the owner made it clear they wanted to keep me and I’m delighted it has been sorted and that my future is here for another three years.

“I’ve loved my time here. I never realised what a big club Ipswich is until I came here. The support the Club enjoys is fantastic and hopefully we can get where we all want to be, the Premier League.”

The former Bristol City player made his 98th appearance for Blues in Saturday’s goalless draw with Huddersfield.
