Striker back in training ahead of return trip to City Ground

David McGoldrick has given Town a boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest by returning to training.

The striker missed the defeat at Hull on Tuesday with a groin injury and wasn’t expected to be available to face his former club at the City Ground.

“Didz was out of contention but he came in to see me this morning and said he wanted to train,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told Ipswich Player HD.

“He trained really well as well. He’s in contention for Saturday but we have to hope there is no reaction.”

Christophe Berra and Cole Skuse both missed training but Mick added: “We hope they will be okay tomorrow. Tommy Oar trained with the physios today and we hope he will be with the rest of the squad on Friday as well.”

The Australian international missed the trip to Hull after suffering concussion in the draw with Huddersfield.
