Boss praise for Blue Army but almost speechless after seeing win snatched away

Mick McCarthy praised the Blue Army for their support at the City Ground but said conceding a last minute equaliser had left him almost speechless in disappointment.

Blues were seconds away from a first win at Forest since 1999 until former Town midfielder Liam Trotter - who only signed this morning - levelled the scores from close range.

“We should never have let them get out of the corner and they ended up breaking and it’s cost us,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“It’s hugely disappointing because we had done enough to have won the game.

“It’s too simplistic to say that our luck was out. We should never have let them get in but there were a lot of positives to take from the game.

“They were the better side in the first-half, we were better in the second-half and carried a good attacking threat.

“We had great support today as well and they got behind all of us. We really appreciate that and it’s disappointing we couldn’t give the fans the three points to celebrate on the way home.

“It’s a very sombre dressing-room and it’s left me almost speechless but we have to go again next week - and we will do.”
