Daryl and Didz have to take one more step for France finals

Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick face a Play-Off double header in November after the Republic of Ireland finished third in their European Championship group following defeat in Poland.

The two Blues remained on the bench in the 2-1 defeat in Warsaw that saw Poland claim the second automatic qualification place behind Germany for the finals in France next summer.

The draw for the Play-Offs, which will be played over two legs, will be made on October 18, with Hungary and Slovenia two of the countries set to join Ireland in the hat. The other places will be resolved tonight.

Meanwhile Christophe Berra won his 31st cap as Scotland ended their qualifying campaign with a 6-0 win over Gilbraltar while Kevin Bru was in action for Mauritius in their 2018 World Cup round one qualifier against Kenya. The game ended goalless with Kenya progressing 5-2 on aggregate.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles won his third cap for England U19s in their 1-0 win over Finland in a 2016 European Championship qualifier.
