TOWN U21S 0 CHARLTON 3

12 October 2015

Cup run ended at first stage for young Blues

Town’s stay in this season’s U21 Premier League Cup was ended by the Addicks at the first round stage.

Michael Crowe produced a string of fine saves in the Town goal as the visitors threatened to take a lead into the break, the Wales U19 ‘keeper international denying Brandon Hanlon on two occasions before keeping out Josh Staunton’s header.

Adam McDonnell hit the bar for Town but three minutes into the second-half, Charlton took the lead with Joe Aribo smashing the ball into the back of the net from close range.

The south Londoners extended their lead soon after through Ademola Lookman and booked their place in the next round 14 minutes from time when Tareiq Holmes-Dennis buried his shot past Crowe and into the net.
