BOSS LOOKS FOR UNITED RETURN

23 September 2015

Mick wants Old Trafford experience to act as incentive for Blues

Mick McCarthy is hoping the experience of playing at Old Trafford will spur his players on to return to Manchester United next season,

Blues went down 3-0 to Louis van Gaal’s side in the Capital One Cup but Town turned in a spirited 90 minutes.

“It was great to get a full game into some of the players who have come back from injury, like Jonny Parr and Kevin Bru and it was a real learning curve for the younger players like Josh
Emmanuel and Josh Yorwerth, who did great,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“We were much better in the second-half and had a real go at them and the third goal was probably harsh on us. Even then we were pushing forward looking for a goal.

“I loved coming back here and Christophe Berra was saying that you don’t realise how much you miss the Premier League until you come back to places like this.

“That is why I brought the whole squad. Hopefully it can spur us on and act as an incentive to come back here in the Premier League next season.”
