Striker could miss trip to Leeds with a hamstring injury whilst Bishop and Bru close in on a return to action
Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Freddie Sears is a doubt for the trip to Leeds United, but has no other fresh injury concerns.
Elsewhere, Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop make their return from injury in the U21s this afternoon against Birmingham while Tommy Oar makes his first Town appearance in the same game.
“Freddie’s got a tight hamstring. We’ve just got to wait and see how he is, but he’s the only one that’s a doubt ahead of tomorrow,” Mick told Ipswich Player HD.
“I’ll be desperate to have him in the squad but what I won’t do is risk him. We had a bad day at the office on Friday but I thought he was excellent again.
“Teddy and Kevin have gone away with the under 21s, Tommy Oar too. They’ll be in the squad for Friday and certainly for the cup tie at Manchester United.”
He stressed that despite the disappointing result against Reading on Friday, it’s not time for ‘knee-jerk’ reactions and that there isn’t a need for wholesale changes to the side, confirming that Dean Gerken will be between the sticks for the Blues.
“Gerks will be playing in goal. When you’ve conceded eight goals in two games, all positions are under threat and if you make a change and they don’t play well then you’ve not got a lot of room to manoeuvre.
“I’m not one that just changes people for the sake of it. Each one of the players were hurting just as much as I was but none of them let me down or let the Club down intentionally, it was just a bad day at the office.”
