Tommy admits the coach journey home was a lot sweeter than the trip up to Leeds after being held up en route north

Tommy Smith has told the official Club website that the journey back from Leeds last night was a lot sweeter than the one up.

The defender scored the only goal of the game to ensure the Blues left with all three points, after being held up on the motorway on the way north on Monday.

“The win certainly made the coach journey home a lot smoother,” Tommy told the official Club website.

“In fact, it was a lot better than the journey up to Leeds as we had been held up with a broken windscreen wiper. So that wasn’t ideal!

“But that’s all forgotten when you come to a place like Elland Road and take the three points.

“It’s a huge win and we needed that reaction following the defeat to Reading. The manager was delighted with us and the first thing he said in the dressing-room after was ‘you beauties!’”
