Winger named Young Player of the Month for August
The 21-year-old bagged three goals in six appearances over that period to help Blues in to the top six in the Championship and also set up a Capital One Cup third round trip to Manchester United.
Town boss Mick McCarthy presented Ryan with the award at the Club’s training ground, with the winger, who is on a season long loan from Bournemouth, saying: “It’s obviously an honour to get the award. Hopefully I can keep up my performances and just push on from here."
Mick added: “I’m delighted to see Ryan pick up the trophy and he fully deserves it.
“He's an infectious character on and off the pitch, he loves taking defenders on, he can go either way and he's already shown that he has a goal in him. He's just a really talented footballer and we are delighted to have him here.”
David Wetherall, Head of Youth Development at The Football League, said: “Ryan Fraser is an exciting young footballer who has made a flying start to the new season.
“Joining a Football League club on loan and bagging a number of first team goals and assists will have boosted Ryan’s confidence and will, I am sure, play a big part in his development.”
Each month the accolade is awarded by The Football League to the young player who has made the most significant contribution and impact in first-team football. To be eligible the player must be either under 21 years of age or be playing in the season during which he turns 21. Currently over a third of all players registered with Football League clubs are eligible to be considered for this award.
