Mick reiterates he is as hungry as ever to get back in the top flight with Town

Mick McCarthy says his drive and ambition is focused on getting Town in the Premier League.

Speaking to Ipswich Player HD, Blues’ boss - who has been linked with the vacant manager’s job at Aston Villa - made it clear that getting back to the top flight is his goal.

“If my name has been mentioned with Villa then I take it as a compliment but I don’t take any notice of speculation,” said Mick.

“I’m enjoying being Ipswich Town manager but I don’t want anyone thinking I’m sitting here resting on my laurels, thinking this is a nice cosy place to be.

“I’m ambitious, I want to be in the Premier League and first and foremost I want to be there with Ipswich.

“My drive and ambition is to get us in the Play-Offs and then the Premier League and we have big game at Wolves on Saturday.

“They are getting bigger by the game as well because games are running out and we know we have a lot to do to get in the top six."

Subscribers to Ipswich Player HD can listen to live commentary of Town’s game at Molineux. Kick-off 3.00pm.
