Blues skipper thanks the fans for their support for the season ahead of MK Dons clash
Luke Chambers believes the Town players owe the fans a performance to round off their 2015/16 home campaign tomorrow.
The Blues host MK Dons in the final match at Portman Road this term, and the skipper knows that a strong finish can impact how next season will begin.
“We need to end on a positive note to head into next season with,” he told the official matchday programme, in his final column of the season.
“We also owe it to the supporters. The fans have been absolutely brilliant throughout my time at the football club.
“The aim at the start of the season was to build on our sixth place finish of last season but unfortunately we’ve fallen short and no one is more frustrated than me and the lads in the dressing-room, as well as the gaffer.
“I think the last month or so has been the difference. We haven’t picked up as many points as we perhaps should have done and it’s resulted in us just missing out.
“As players it’s great to play in front of the fans and hopefully we can sign off from Portman Road for another season with three points in the bag.”
Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Teddy Bishop, Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock will all start against the Dons tomorrow afternoon with the latter due to make his first Championship appearance. Daryl Murphy, Luke Chambers and Jonas Knudsen are all doubtful with knocks, although Luke Varney is fit again.
Dons boss, Karl Robinson may elect to leave out defender, Kyle McFadzean for their final two Championship games having picked up 14 yellow cards this season, and another would see him banned for three matches running into next season. However, goalkeeper David Martin and midfielder, Ben Reeves will definitely miss out with injury.

Where They Stand
Town – 8th
MK Dons – 22nd
Last Time they met
Brett Pitman headed home early in the game to give Town all three points in just the second ever meeting between the two sides at stadium:mk back in December. Pitman nodded home a Luke Chambers cross with ten minutes on the clock and the Blues stood firm to secure a win which took them back into the Play-Off places.
Diggers made his first Championship start last week at the Riverside as he played an important role in ensuring Town would hold Middlesbrough to a goalless draw. He may well get the chance to add to that start at Portman Road on Saturday after his impressive showing. MK Dons may not be the most proficient scorers, but Town will need Digby to be on top form to help keep a final home clean sheet of the season.
This is a name well known by Town fans after three loan spells at Portman Road in the past couple of seasons. The Welshman can bring pace and trickery to Karl Robinson’s attack and, although he hasn’t played as much as he may have liked this season, he will always pose a significant threat going forward.
