STALLONE AND PELE AT PORTMAN ROAD

22 April 2016

Escape to Victory featuring Warky and co is back on the screens at Portman Road 35 years on

Town and Pop Up Pictures are delighted to announce that the film ‘Escape to Victory’ will be screened at Portman Road to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the original release.

The classic film starred numerous Blues legends including John Wark, Russell Osman and Kevin Beattie, amongst others.

Pop Up Pictures - East Anglia’s leading pop up cinema company - will be showing an exclusive screening of the film at Portman Road on Saturday, May 21*.

Standard tickets are priced at £10 each and will be available online only from 10am on Monday, April 25 from either Pop Up Pictures at www.popuppictures.com  or via the Club at www.itfcdirect.com

Prior to the screening there will also be a rare and exclusive opportunity for Town supporters to attend a VIP dinner. Some of the legends who starred in the film will be telling stories from the making of the film and what it was to like to share a set with Sylvester Stallone, Pele, Bobby Moore and Michael Caine.

Following the VIP dinner, guests will make their way to the executive padded seating area to watch the film. Individual places can be booked or tables of 10 by calling (01473) 400594 or emailing sales@itfc.co.uk.

It is also the 35th anniversary of Town winning the UEFA Cup and highlights of that win over AZ67 Alkmaar will be shown on the evening.

“We are delighted to be hosting such a unique event. It’s such an iconic film and the Club is proud that so many of the ITFC legends played a part in it,” said Rosie Richardson, director of sales at Ipswich Town.

“The VIP dinner will be something very special and with standard tickets priced at only £10, there is something for everyone.”

Danny Banthorpe from Pop Up Pictures added: “It is fantastic for us to present what we believe is the first outdoor film screening in a sports stadium in the UK.

The opportunity to work closely with a great club like Ipswich Town and it coinciding with the anniversary of ‘Escape to Victory’ means we can provide football fans and film lovers with what will be a fantastic evening.”
