Balancing act for Mick as EFL clubs experience loan restrictions for the first time
EFL clubs have now joined the Premier League teams in not being able to bring in players on loan outside the window. Players can’t go out on loan either, unless to non-League sides.
The window closes on August 31 at 11pm with Mick believing it’s going to be interesting period.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a bit of chaos around next week, especially in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see what happens,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“They will have players on their books who could be sitting kicking their heels all through to January because they are not playing competitive football.
“It won’t be that clubs don’t want to let players go out. It will be that they won’t let someone go out without making sure they have got someone coming in first. I’ve been there myself and we are in that situation here in that we can’t afford to leave ourselves exposed in any areas. It’s a balancing act.
“I am talking to Premier League clubs and have been for a while. We will look to do something if the right situation opens up but it’s proving to be difficult with the way the loan window has changed.”
