Town skipper concedes performance against Stevenage wasn't up to scratch

Luke Chambers knows Town need an instant reaction from tonight’s cup defeat at home to Stevenage if any points are to be gained from Saturday’s clash with Brentford.

The Blues were knocked out of the EFL Cup by the League Two side at Portman Road, and the skipper realises the performance was far from what he and his fellow players expect from one another.

“It was frustrating, disappointing and just not good enough really,” he told Ipswich Player HD following the defeat.

“I’m not calling anybody out because the lads are different class. They work their nuts off for the Football Club but sometimes you fall short and we did that tonight.

“We’ll be in tomorrow training. The lads were expecting a day off but no one deserves a day off after that.

“If we play like that again on Saturday, we’ll get smashed, so we need to have a reaction but that will have to come from within and we’ll look at it tomorrow, but the frustration is there tonight.

“Credit to Stevenage, they’ve come here, done very, very well and done a bit of a job on us. They kept putting it in behind us, making us defend and deal with it but our options and use of the ball tonight weren’t up to scratch.”
