Wales international returns to Portman Road on loan until the end of the season

Town have signed Jonny Williams on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

It will be the fourth loan spell the Wales international has had at Portman Road, with the 22-year-old back at the Club today to complete the paperwork.

Jonny became a firm favourite with the Blue Army when he arrived at Town in February 2014, scoring the Club’s Goal of the Season in the win over Derby, one of 13 appearances he made in a three month loan spell.

Two further loan stays followed in 2014/15 but both were hindered by a groin injury.

The midfielder made 10 appearances on loan for Nottingham Forest last term before being recalled by Palace and finished the campaign  on loan at Milton Keynes, where he played 14 times.

He was named in the Wales squad for the European Championship in the summer and impressed in France, with a starting role in their opening group game win over Slovakia and substitute appearances against England, Northern Ireland and Portugal in the semi-finals.

An ankle injury picked up in Palace’s last pre-season game has seen him miss the start of the season but he is running now and expects to be back in action at the start of October.
