Reg back at Portman Road on short term deal to supplement attacking options

Mick McCarthy has added Luke Varney to his squad with the striker signing a short term contract until January.

It will mean a third spell for the well-travelled frontman, who first joined Blues on loan from Blackburn in the 2014/15 season.

He snapped his achilles in the Play-Off semi-final first-leg against Norwich at the end of that season but after recovering, he continued his stay at Portman Road last term, signing until the end of the campaign.

Reg, a very popular figure on and off the pitch at Town, has been handed the number 12 shirt and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Brentford.

Luke’s arrival will give Town some cover in attack, with Brett Pitman ruled out at the moment with a thigh injury.

More from the new signing and reaction from the manager to follow on Ipswich Player HD.
