Town new boy reflects on a stunning debut which seen him score a 39-minute hat-trick
Grant Ward hopes to add more goals to his game after bagging a hat-trick in a dream debut at Portman Road.
The midfielder, who signed from Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, scored a treble despite coming on at half-time as Town ran out 4-2 winners over Barnsley in the 2016/17 season opener.
“Goals are something I’ve been trying to add to my game and hopefully I can do that more this season,” he told Ipswich Player HD.
“The gaffer told me at half-time to go on and do what I’ve been doing in training, to get at people and to get some shots away.
“I think I only had three shots and scored three goals so it happens and you can’t really complain!
“It was good to play at Portman Road as an Ipswich player. Obviously I have played here before but it’s a great stadium with some nice fans.
“They were good, even at the start when it wasn’t going as well they kept us going and thankfully they got their reward.”
