Striker set for Newcastle switch in 'good move for him and good deal for us'
The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland international, in the last year of his contract at Portman Road, has handed in a transfer request to the Club and the Town boss confirmed he is heading to St James’ Park.
“Daryl is going to Newcastle. He has handed in a transfer request and wants to go and when a player doesn’t want to be here, it’s best they move on,” Mick told Ipswich Player HD.
“Let’s get it right. Newcastle probably think they can get back to the Premier League so it’s a good move for him but it’s a good deal for us as well and we will reinvest the money.
“Murph has been terrific for us but I think we have been good for him as well. I hope he goes up there and is a big success for them because he’s been a great servant for Ipswich Town. Good luck to him.
“I’ve no doubt we will get someone in. I’ve been on the phone non-stop recently, spinning plates. Let’s hope they don’t land on my head!"
