Goalscorer Grant looks to continue to impress after scoring fourth goal of the season

Grant Ward hopes three points against Preston have gone some way to repaying the fans that have backed him since his move from Spurs at the beginning of the month.

The midfielder bagged the winner as Town made it three without defeat with a 1-0 victory over Simon Grayson's North End at Portman Road.

"Ever since I've arrived here the fans have been great to me, so it was nice to give something back," he told Ipswich Player HD.

"I think we played better football in the first-half, but sometimes you just have to grind it out and today we did that.

"I could have had a hat-trick today! It wasn't to be but I was pleased to score again. I'm always at the edge of the box looking for scraps and the ball came out to me so I just hit it.

"The gaffer has told me I don't need to stay out wide. I can go out there if need be but he wants me to come in and score some goals so it's been working.

"I've always had a good strike but probably not scored as many goals as I should do so hopefully I can continue my form and get some more for the team.

"Against Wolves and Norwich, we could have easily picked up victories, but decisions went against us and we missed some chances, but today we got the win and I thought we deserved it."
