Good way to finish 2016 and deserved win says Mick as he hails Andre masterclass

Mick McCarthy felt Town were worthy winners against Bristol City after seeing Brett Pitman’s spectacular goal late on give Blues the points.

The Town boss also acclaimed Andre Dozzell’s 20 minute display as a masterclass in passing.

“It was a fantastic goal to win it and we deserved the three points,” Mick told Ipswich Player HD. “It was a good performance and a great result for the Club and a good way to finish the year.

“Pits was terrific all night and he’s a finisher. We know that. He worked his socks off, they all did.

“It was a good ball in from Freddie [Sears] and the substitutes both made an impact and that is what I look for when I put players on from the bench.

“Dozzer gave a masterclass out there with his passing. He had his laser on tonight.

“He has a wonderful range of passing and you can see what a talent he is. He shone out there. The game suited him. It had opened up. Against Fulham the other day in the first-half we were getting bashed and it wasn’t a game for him.”

Mick also had praise for the Blue Army, adding: “I had a lot of support tonight and I really appreciate that. Even if it’s ‘keep your chin up Mick’, it makes a difference.

“There were a couple of boos as well when I was walking out but I get that. The fans want to see their team win but the supporters were right behind the team through the 90 minutes and when we were driving forward in the second-half looking for the winner, that support helped the players."
