Morris and Dozzell on target but Blues go down at Forest after extra-time
Blues twice came from behind to level the scores in 90 minutes with Ben Morris cancelling out Toby Edser’s free-kick opener, before Andre Dozzell snatched a late equaliser with a terrific free-kick from 20 yards after Virgil Gomis looked to have won it for Forest.
Conor McKendry was denied a dramatic winner in 90 minutes by the fingertips of Forest ‘keeper Jordan Wright, while earlier Harry Wright in the Town goal had produced excellent saves to keep out Kyle McClean and Gomis.
Ben Bereton put Forest in front for the third time on 96 minutes, calmly finishing past Wright from Gomis’ slick pass.
Blues looked set to be level terms when Ben Folami struck at goal but Wright saved well for Forest and shortly after Bereton added his second and Forest’s fourth to end Town’s stay in the competition this season.
