Midfielder close to making loan switch to Portman Road for the next month with the option of staying until the end of the season

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed he is hoping to sign Ben Pringle on loan from Championship-rivals Fulham.

The midfielder is close to joining on a month’s loan from the west London side and could make his Blues debut against Bristol City at the weekend, should the deal go through.

Ben will be a Town player up until the game against his former side Rotherham, although there is an option in place to extend the deal until the end of the season.

The former Rotherham man, who joined Fulham in the summer as a free agent, can operate in either central midfield or on the left flank.

Pringle started his career in non-league, featuring for Ilkeston, before joining Derby County in 2009.

The wideman then moved on to Rotherham, becoming a mainstay in the Millers side that earned promotion to the Championship and then avoiding relegation in their first season.

However Ben then joined Fulham as a free agent after seeing his contract expire, before teaming up with the Blues on loan when Mick McCarthy came calling.

The midfielder will wear the number 15 shirt during his time at Portman Road.
