Euro carrot for striker and Town sure to benefit from that says Mick

Mick McCarthy says David McGoldrick is making great progress as he recovers from a badly torn hamstring.

The Town striker is back at the training ground as he steps up his rehabilitation from the injury sustained in December that is expected to keep him out of action until next month.

“Didz is getting there quickly in terms of his rehab,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“It’s a really bad tear but he is back with us now after doing some of his recovery work at home.

“He’s got the target of getting back and playing well and getting in the Republic of Ireland squad for the European Championships in the summer as well. What a carrot that is for anyone.

“We will get the benefits of that as we undoubtedly have to before he can do anything for Ireland and it will be great to have him back when he is ready.”
