First-half strike from McKendry is enough for the young Blues to take all three points at a blustery Playford Road
Town’s U21 side defeated QPR 1-0 at Playford Road this afternoon.
Mark Kennedy’s side dug in well to record the victory, with Conor McKendry’s first-half strike enough to earn all three points.
Strike duo Sam Ford and Shane McLoughlin both went close early on for Town, but it was McKendry who finally made the breakthrough 11 minutes before half-time as he fired low into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
The visitors looked for a breakthrough but Town ‘keeper Jacob Marsden was equal to anything that came his way.
There weren’t too many chances of note in the second-half, in very blustery conditions, although Cemal Ramadan saw his effort saved by the QPR ‘keeper with just seconds remaining.
But it wasn’t to matter as the Blues dug in to record an impressive victory against the R’s.
