Town bolster squad with loan signing of promising Barnsley midfielder who will spend the rest of the season at Portman Road

Town have agreed to sign Paul Digby on loan from Barnsley until the end of the season.

The move signals a first foray into the January transfer market by boss Mick McCarthy, with the versatile Digby teaming up with the Blues for the remainder of the campaign.

Paul, who has come through the Academy ranks at Oakwell, has been capped at England youth level and predominately plays in central midfield although can also deputise at right-back.

The midfielder spent time on trial with Manchester United earlier this campaign before returning to Barnsley but will now spend the rest of the season at Portman Road.

The 20 year-old has travelled with the squad to Burnley but isn’t available for selection, whilst a full interview with the new recruit will be available on Ipswich Player HD in due course.
