Goals from Meldrum, McKendry and Morris help Town to a thrilling 3-3 draw with Colchester at Florence Park

Town’s U18s came from behind three times to earn a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Colchester this afternoon.

All six goals came in an action-packed first half at Florence Park and although the Blues pushed for a winner in the second-half, it wasn’t to be as the sides had to settle for a draw.

The U’s took the lead early in the game through Callum Jones, but Town replied immediately as Ross Meldrum found the net on 25 minutes.

Less than five minutes later, Colchester restored their advantage as Harry Wright in the Blues goal was left with no chance with a powerful, curled effort from the edge of the area by Tariq Issa.

Conor McKendry then quickly had the Blues level again, although a Luke Woolfenden foul gave the hosts the chance to go in front for a third time from the spot; an opportunity Issa duly accepted as he doubled his tally.

As the half drew to a close, Ben Morris levelled things up with a wonderful solo effort and three apiece was how it remained as Town begin 2016 unbeaten in two.

Team: Wright, Jones, Nydam, Maynard, Woolfenden, Smith, McKendry, Dozzell, Morris, Blanchfield, Meldrum. Subs: Cathline, Hayes, Salaudeen, Daly, Brown.
