WE WERE STREETS BETTER

Boss delighted with 'excellent Town' as Blues move up to fifth

Mick McCarthy was thrilled with his team’s display after watching Blues move up to fifth in the Championship table with victory over Leeds.

Souleymane Doukara gave the visitors the lead after 12 seconds but Brett Pitman’s goal in added on time gave Blues the points after Luke Chambers had equalised five minutes after the break.

“They had the first 12 seconds and then maybe 10 minutes after that when they had the momentum, after that we were excellent,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“We were different class. We were patient, didn’t get frustrated and absolutely deserved to win.

“We created enough chances in the first-half to have scored. Their ‘keeper has made some good saves but I said at the half-time, that we needed to carry on doing what we were doing and the goals would come.

“Leeds went a bit negative and we have the players to pick a hole and we did that. We were the better team by a street.”
