Town boss impressed with Teddy Bishop's pre-season so far after difficult 12 months

Mick McCarthy is looking for a big impact from Teddy Bishop this season, after an injury-hit campaign limited his playing time last term.

The talented midfielder was restricted to just four appearances in all competitions due to numerous recurrences of a hamstring tendon injury, but the boss believes he’s put that difficult period behind him.

“He had a real disappointing 12 months where it really affected him emotionally, mentally and physically,” the gaffer told Ipswich Player HD.

“You don’t want to be seen laughing and joking when you’re injured because people will start to think you’re not bothered and he was having a real problem with it.

“He’s been training every day in pre-season so far, and we’ve given him a couple of days’ rest just to make sure he’s alright.

“He looks fabulous. We all know he’s a terrific player, and it will be lovely to have him back and ready to go every week.”
