CAMBRIDGE EXAM FOR ADAM?

13 July 2016

New Blue set to join full training next week and eager to get his Town career going

Adam Webster is expected to join his team-mates in full training next week and Town fans could see the defender in action for Blues for the first time in the friendly at Cambridge.

The 21-year-old defender sustained an ankle injury that ruled him out of Portsmouth’s closing games of last season and their Play-Off clash with Plymouth before his move to Portman Road at the start of this month.

He has been working with the Town physio staff and is closing in on joining the rest of the squad in full training and making that first appearance in a Blues’ shirt.

“Adam is busting a gut to get going,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.

“He has been out on the grass, running, jumping, heading balls and that means landing on his feet, testing his ankle and he has been fine.

“He will be working with Lids [Andy Liddell, fitness coach] tomorrow and he should be training fully next Monday.”

Town continue the pre-season campaign against Barnet tonight, then take on Colchester next Wednesday and Cambridge on July 23.
