New 'start' for winger as he looks to catch the eye

Mick McCarthy has challenged Cameron Stewart to persuade him he still has a future at Portman Road.

The former Manchester United winger was told he was free to find a new club at the end of last season after spending much of the campaign on loan at Doncaster.

Cameron has made only two appearances for Blues, both in cup football, since joining the Club in the summer of 2014 as a free agent but he has impressed the Town boss since reporting back for pre-season.

“It has not worked out for Cameron here so far and that is obviously very disappointing,” Mick told the Club website.

“I’ve got to take that on the chin personally as well because it was my decision to bring him here.

“We give all the support we can to players here though and sometimes they have to look at themselves if it is not working out.

“He’s come back for pre-season fit and ready to go though. You can see he has got ability. He’s always had that. It’s a fresh start for him. We’ll see. It’s up to him.”
