SPARKY DEPARTS FOR NEW ROLE

6 July 2016

Town's U21 boss leaves to join up with Manchester City's Academy

Mark Kennedy has left Town to take up a role at Manchester City's Academy.

The former Republic of Ireland international joined Blues in the summer of 2010 and went on to make 37 appearances for the Club before taking on a coaching position at Portman Road in 2012.

He has managed Town’s U21s over recent years, with the likes of Myles Kenlock, Josh Emmanuel and Teddy Bishop playing under his tutorship.

The move to City will mark a return to the club for Kennedy, who made 77 appearances in two years there between 1991 and 2001.

“We are disappointed to see Sparky go but we wish him all the best for the future,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.
