TOMMY SMITH PENS NEW DEAL

28 July 2016

Defender signs new three-year contract at Portman Road with the option of a further 12 month stay

Tommy Smith has today signed a new three-year contract with Ipswich Town.

The defender, who has made over 250 appearances for the Blues since making his debut in 2008, will now remain at Portman Road until 2019, with the option of a further 12 month stay.

The New Zealand international, who has become a mainstay in Mick McCarthy’s side, had just a year left to run on his contract before penning his new deal today.

A popular figure at Portman Road, Tommy will be looking to continue his fine form of last season into the new campaign as Barnsley visit Portman Road on August 6th for the first game of the new season.

A full interview with the 26 year-old will be available on Ipswich Player HD later today.
