We deserved it says boss and reveals he will be adding Liam Feeney to his squad

Mick McCarthy hailed the win over Blackburn as vital as Town closed in on the Play-Off places.

Daryl Murphy celebrated his 33rd birthday in style with two second-half goals, the first from the penalty spot to take his tally to 10 for the season.

“We got the break with the penalty. I have not seen it but Paul Lambert said it was and Murph took it well.

“The second goal was class. Great work by Varns and a great finish and it’s a vital win for us.

“We had to scrap it out again. They are a decent side and Bart made a couple of good saves in the first-half but we didn’t get give them a sniff after that and we deserved the win in the end.”

Mick revealed that he will be adding to his squad with the signing of Bolton wideman Liam Feeney on loan until the end of the season.

“Liam was here tonight and he will sign for us on Thursday,” explained the Town boss.

“I hadn’t seen him play centre-forward until our game at Bolton last week and he was excellent.

“He has got real pace, can play on either side, can cross with either foot and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
