BOSS: IT WILL GO TO THE WIRE AGAIN

Mick praise for character of players after six point return gets Blues back on track

Mick McCarthy had praise for the character of his side again as Town closed in on the Play-Offs with victory over Nottingham Forest.

Ben Pringle provided the winner for the second successive game to take Blues to within a point of the top six with a game in hand.

“It was a great win for us and it’s been a good week with six points from two games,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD. “It shows the character of the players again after three defeats on the bounce.

“We had to stick in there in the first-half. Bart made a couple of good saves and they hit the bar twice when I think they should have scored.

“We were dominant in the second-half though and I think we played some of our best football for a while.

“Foles did great for us again. His perseverance got us the goal. He’s a proper footballer and now we’ve got a free-scoring midfielder in Prings as well!

“We are a point off the Play-Offs now but I will stay the same as I was when we weren’t having a good time. Of course I was hurting then but it’s important to remain with the same level-headed demeanour.

“There are a lot of games to play and it will go to the wire again this season.”

Mick added that Daryl Murphy missed out with a calf injury and Jonathan Douglas with a cut foot. Dougie will be fit for Tuesday's trip to Bolton. Kevin Bru was replaced at half-time after being sick.
