Defender moves to Roots Hall on loan from Town until the end of the season

Piotr Malarcyzk has joined League One side Southend on loan until the end of the season.

The Polish defender, who joined the Blues in the summer from Korona Kielce for an undisclosed fee, will now spend the rest of the campaign with the Shrimpers.

Piotr has failed to establish himself in the first-team at Portman Road, struggling to dislodge Luke Chambers, Tommy Smith and Christophe Berra from the starting line-up, and will now look for regular football at Roots Hall.

The 24 year-old has made six appearances for Town, with his three starts all coming in cup competitions. The defender was sent off against Portsmouth in his last outing for the Blues.

Phil Brown’s side also contain former Town players Noel Hunt and Anthony Wordsworth within their ranks.
