Daryl Murphy is looking ahead to Saturday's game as his birthday brace sinks Blackburn
Daryl Murphy insists Town’s work this week is only half of the way done after his double helped see off Blackburn Rovers at Portman Road.
The Blues return to action at home on Saturday as Rotherham make the trip to Suffolk, and the Irishman, who was celebrating his 33rd birthday, is looking to secure another three points going into the international break.
“We wanted three points from Blackburn because we are looking at six points from the two home games, so hopefully we can do that,” he told Ipswich Player HD.
“I think overall we probably just edged the game. We had the better of the chances and thankfully we took them.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, they’re a good, physical side but I think it was always important that we got the first goal, and after that we settled down a bit so thankfully the other one came.
“I said to my kids before I left that I was going to score for my birthday so happy days that it happened! I promised them a goal and I got two so it was nice, especially on my birthday.”
