ROVERS PHYSIO SAVED MY CAREER

15 March 2016

Douglas reveals he almost gave up football following an injury nightmare whilst on the books of tonight's opponents

Jonathan Douglas is excited to go up against his former side this evening- and in particular seeing a familiar face or two after the game.

The Town midfielder, who arrived at Portman Road from Brentford in the summer, began his career at Ewood Park but admits he almost quit football altogether whilst at Blackburn.

“I owe Blackburn a lot as they gave me my opportunity in the game and it’s where I started my career,” the Republic of Ireland international told the official matchday programme.

“There are still a few familiar faces within the coaching and medical team from my time there and one physio in particular, Dave Fevre, I owe a great deal to. I suffered a serious injury whilst I was there and to be honest if it wasn’t for Dave, I probably would have jacked football in.

“He was the one who kept me going and kept my spirits up and I owe a great deal to him. It was very tough mentally and Dave was great with me.

“Blackburn probably aren’t doing as well as they perhaps would like to be but make no mistakem they are a tough side. They have some very good players in their squad and they gave us a hell of a game at their place earlier in the season, so we’ve got something to prove against Blackburn I think. “They are a good side but so are we and we fancy ourselves against anyone at Portman Road.”
