Youngsters get a football insight as CBBC spend three days at Portman Road

Two aspiring young footballers spent three days with Town recently as part of a programme on CBBC called All Over the Workplace.

Chitua and Freya were put through their paces at the Club, followed every step of the way by the TV cameras.

They spent time with Mick McCarthy who took them through what’s needed to make the grade as a player, then went into detail on the skills of managership with Chitua keen to become a boss one day.

The pair, who are both at club Academies, trained under the supervision of U21 boss Mark Kennedy, got some tips of the trade from Luke Chambers, Cole Skuse and Giles Coke, as well as warming up with the first-team.

Fitness coach Andy Liddell took time out to explain the importance of the right nutrition before former Northern Ireland boss and Town player Bryan Hamilton passed on his 50 years experience of football to Chitua, who managed a team including Freya at Portman Road.

“We are delighted with the programme and the access and help we got from Ipswich was fantastic,” said the show’s producer, Drew Ferguson.
