U21 REPORT: CARDIFF 1-0 TOWN

14 March 2016

Development Squad slip to injury time defeat in South Wales as Veale wins it for the Bluebirds

Town’s U21 side were defeated 1-0 by Cardiff in South Wales this afternoon, just as the first-team were at the weekend.

Mark Kennedy- a former Bluebird himself- took his side to Wales looking to follow up the win over Watford last time out, but an injury time strike from Jamie Veale ensured the hosts would take the points.

First-teamers Piotr Malarcyzk, Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock were all involved but were unable to help the side to victory.

Michael Crowe, who was on the bench for the first-team on Saturday, produced a number of fine saves in the first-half to see the sides go in level pegging at the break.

The second period was a similar tale, with Crowe again forced into a serious of stops to deny the Bluebird attackers.

At the other end, both Dozzell and McLoughlin went close for Town but neither could find a way past the Cardiff ‘keeper.

It appeared the game would end in stalemate but deep into injury time Veale struck, with a superb half-volley which flew past Crowe and into the back of the net to ensure Town would head back to Suffolk with nothing to show for their efforts.

TOWN: Crowe, Emmanuel, Owen, Malarcyzk, Smith, Kenlock, Dozzell, Blanchfield, McDonnell, Morris, McLoughlin. Subs: Marsden, Hammond, McKendry, Benyu.
