WAITING GAME FOR BOSS

23 March 2016

Mick looking for the Blues to 'regroup' after the international break and hopes his players representing their countries avoid injury ahead of season run-in

Mick McCarthy says Town will regroup again next week and look to push on, ahead of the trip to Wolves on April 2nd.

The domestic fixtures in the top two divisions take a break this weekend as international football takes centre stage and the Blues have five first-team players away with their respective countries - Daryl Murphy, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Kevin Bru, Christophe Berra and Jonas Knudsen.

“Most of the players will not be back with us until the middle of next week so we will have to wait until then to see who comes back fit and well,” explained the Town boss to the Club website.

“The international break is what it is though. We will get on with it. When we’ve got the squad back, we will regroup and go again.

“It’s always the challenge to react after a defeat and a poor display like on Saturday and we’ve got to wait two weeks to do it. That's what we’ve got to do though at Wolves on April 2nd.”

David McGoldrick came safely through his comeback game for the U21s against Nottingham Forest on Monday night after recovering from three months out with a hamstring problem and could feature again for Mark Kennedy’s side against Crewe next Wednesday, with Mick hopeful he will be fine to make the trip to Molineux.
