Late call likely as Didz and Murph hope to make Ireland's final 23 for finals

David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy face an anxious wait to see if they will make the Republic of Ireland squad for the European Championship.

Didz won his third cap for the Republic in their 1-1 draw with Holland in a friendly on Friday, the Town striker playing the first 75 minutes in Dublin.

Murph was an unused substitute for the game but started in both legs of Ireland’s Play-Off win over Bosnia that clinched his country a place in this summer’s finals in France as well as leading the line in their vital group win over Germany.

Ireland play Belarus in Cork on Tuesday and national team boss Martin O’Neill may wait until after that game before revealing his final 23 man squad, with the deadline for each country to confirm their squad for the Euros at 11pm that night.

Meanwhile young Town professional Monty Patterson won his first cap for New Zealand as they beat Fiji 3-1 in their opening game in the Oceania Nations Cup.
